UAE launches 'Vibe Codes' with Microsoft: 5,000 people join in the first hour
Launched 29 Oct 2026 (UAE Codes Day)
The UAE's Artificial Intelligence Office launched UAE Vibe Codes for UAE Codes Day, marked every year on 29 October, in collaboration with Microsoft. Participants describe an idea in plain language and AI tools help turn it into a prototype website or app, with no coding experience needed. Organisers said 5,000 people took part in the first hour, and hands-on workshops are being run with partners including Google, Emirates Global Aluminium, Siemens and IBM.

Anthropic manager drops classic coding interviews for his team
Reported 28 Oct 2026
Felix Rieseberg, an engineering manager at Anthropic, says he has stopped using traditional coding interviews for his team's hiring, arguing that AI has made them a poor measure of who will succeed at work. The Register noted that skills tests remain common across the wider tech industry.
Why it matters: Learners should expect employers to value problem definition, judgement and working well with AI tools, not only memorised coding answers.
